Before troubleshooting the problem with your laptop’s trackpad,
- Check your laptop’s system settings to make sure trackpad clicks are enabled.
- Clean any debris or foreign substances from the surface of the trackpad.
- Test if the trackpad clicks can be registered when using an external mouse.
- Check to see if the trackpad settings have changed in your laptop’s mouse and touchpad settings.
- Run a diagnostic to ensure all of your laptop’s hardware is functioning properly.
