Check the USB cable
- Check that the USB cable is connected securely to your laptop and the mouse.
 - If the USB cable is not connected securely, unplug the USB cable and re-connect it.
 - Check Device Manager to ensure the mouse drivers are installed correctly: 
- Press ⌘+R and type devmgmt.msc.
 - Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
 - Verify there is an entry for your mouse.
 
 - If the mouse is not listed, reinstall the drivers.
 - Try a different USB port, if possible.
 - Check the power settings, if using a wireless mouse: 
- Right-click on the battery icon > Power Options.
 - Select Change Plan Settings next to the selected plan.
 - Select Change advanced power settings.
 - Expand Hardware > Devices.
 - Make sure Allow the computer to turn off this device is enabled.
 
 - Test the mouse on a different computer.
