Steps to Troubleshoot:

1. Check your USB ports. Make sure the ports are in working condition by connecting another USB device successfully.


2. Restart your computer with your external hard drive plugged in.


3. Update the driver software for your external hard drive.


4. Check if the external hard drive is correctly recognized in other computers.


5. If the USB ports are in working condition but the hard drive is still not recognized,
   try connecting the hard drive to different USB ports.
