- Check your power settings and make sure the laptop is not set to ‘high performance’ mode 
 - Check if there are any applications running in the background that may be consuming extra processor power 
 - Check if there are any applications with processor-stressing graphics that could be running 
 - Check for dust build-up in the laptop’s fan vents and open the laptop to manually clean out any buildup
