How to troubleshoot a Smart TV that is not connecting to a specific Wi-Fi network?

< 1 min read

  1. Check the strength of the Wi-Fi signal

Use the network diagnostic tool to determine if the Wi-Fi signal strength received by your Smart TV is adequate.

  2. Reboot both the modem and Router

Unplug both the modem and router and wait one minute before plugging back in. Then check if the Smart TV can detect the wireless network.

  3. Verify the network name (SSID) and address

Cross reference the SSID and IP address of the router with what's configured on your Smart TV to confirm the connection is still valid and current.

  4. Update the firmware of the Smart TV

Keep your TV up-to-date with the latest firmware. The steps may vary according to your TV model. Visit the manufacturer’s website for installation instructions.

  5. Check the network security settings

Confirm that the network settings on your TV are compatible with the security settings on the router. Make sure the router is configured to support the TV. Change the settings on your router/TV if necessary.
