Here are some steps you can take to help protect yourself against skimming devices at ATMs and gas pumps:
- Check for suspicious or foreign objects on the ATM or gas pump machine.
 - Examine an ATM’s entire card slot for anything that looks out of place, such as a skimming device, protruding wires, or other odd features.
 - Shield your PIN input area. When entering your PIN at the ATM, use your body to block the view of it from anyone standing nearby.
 - Check your bank account and credit card activity regularly for any unfamiliar charges or activity.
 - Alert the bank or credit union if you spot any suspicious activity.
