How do I check if a website is secure before entering personal information?

1. Look for the https at the beginning of the website URL or the padlock icon just to the left of the URL.
2. Check to be sure that it is a legitimate website i.e. doesn’t look fake or have unfamiliar content.
3. Check for a privacy policy and other online security measures. Avoid sites without these and any other warning signs.
4. Pay attention to the connection, if it changes from https to http the website may not be secure.
