How do I fix a printer that is not printing black ink?

Check that the printer and computer are both turned on and the cable used to connect the two is connected properly.
Check the ink cartridges to make sure they are not empty or need to be replaced.
Check the driver settings. They may need to be adjusted or you may need to reinstall the printer driver.
Make sure there is no obstruction to the paper tray.
If the printer is still not printing black ink, you may need to clean the print head.
