Why is my laptop not recognizing my USB mouse after unplugging and plugging it back in?

1. Check the wire connection and make sure it is securely plugged into the laptop


2. Make sure the USB port is functional and not damaged


3. Check that the laptop driver is updated to the most recent version


4. Make sure that the USB mouse is receiving power


5. Restart the laptop and reconnect the USB mouse after the restart
