- Check that you are opening the correct file.
 - Check that you have the correct version of Microsoft PowerPoint and the correct software and updated driver.
 - Ensure that the presentation file is located in the same folder as the PowerPoint software.
 - If the file is located on a shared network drive, verify that all users have permissions to access the file.
 - Verify that any connections to linked objects such as Excel spreadsheets or Microsoft Access databases are still valid.
 - Test opening the presentation file on a different computer.
 - Try to repair the file with the Microsoft Office File Diagnostic tool.
